The Hook

What a classic urban legend this is!  The general idea behind this urban legend involves a couple parking out on lover’s lane.  As they make out, the radio plays in the background.  As the couple get down to business, the music stops, and the announcer reports that a serial killer has escaped from the institution nearby.

The killer isn’t just merely a disturbed mental patient, but also has a hook for a hand.  Because of this news, usually the girlfriend wants to leave, and with some reluctance, they both take off from the scene.  When they get to the girlfriends house, she gets out from the car, and to her horror, she finds a hook attached to the door handle.

Other versions, the young couple isn’t so lucky.  Sometimes there is the same beginning, but when they try escaping, the hooked killer is able to kill them before they can get out of there.

There is yet anouther version of the story, which has been a totally different urban legend all together, but has also been told under the name of The Hook.  The couple are driving through a lonely country road surrounded with trees.  When the man has to stop to take a leak, they park and the man gets out and goes to a nearby tree to relieve himself.

When the man doesn’t come back, the woman in the car becomes frightened when she hears that an escaped mental patient has escaped and is now on the loose.  Soon, she begins hearing stranges noises on the roof of the car.  She is hearing scratching sounds and thumbs.  Too scared to get out and check what is causing the noise, she waits there until morning.

When the morning finally comes, she is woken up by a police officer outside her window.  He tells her to get out of the car, walk over to the cruiser, and get in.  But she is not to look back.  As she gets out, she walks towards the officer’s car when she decides to look behind her.  What she sees horrifies her.  Hangiing from over the car is the decapitated body of the man that she had been riding with the night before.  His nails were scratching the roof of the car, and was also thudding against it as well.

It is known that this legend has been aroud since the 1960′s.
